CHELMSFORD - Andrew Islami, 74, a resident of Chelmsford, died Wednesday, December 29th at Lowell General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Ann (Athens) Islami, to whom he was married for 49 years. He was born in Albania on January 18, 1936. Prior to his retirement, Andrew had worked for many years as a chef at several greater Boston restaurants, including Anthony's Hawthorne Restaurant in Lynn, General Glover House and Hawthorne by the Sea, both in Swampscott, and Hilltop Steakhouse in Saugus. In his free time, he was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan and he enjoyed playing the lottery.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Dorothy Whiting and her husband Donald Whiting, Jr. of Chelmsford., and James Islami and his wife Maria of Malden; and five grandchildren, Daniel Whiting, Ashley Whiting, Michael Whiting, Tia Islami, and Maya Islami.
It being the family's wish, there will be no visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his graveside service on Monday, January 3rd at 11 o'clock at Pine Ridge Cemetery, 130 Billerica Road (Route 129) Chelmsford.
