Obituary for Francine Xavier Ullom (Murphy)

Francine Xavier (Murphy) Ullom 68, a lifelong Chelmsford resident passed away at her home following a valiant seven year battle with cancer on Thursday, November 28th with her family at her side.
Francine was born in Lowell on June 30, 1945, a daughter of the late Edward F. and Alice L. (Lantagne) Murphy. She married her high school sweetheart, John Edmund Ullom, and on October 24th 2013 they celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary. She attended Sacred Heart Grammar School in Lowell and was a graduating member of Chelmsford High School’s class of 1964.
Prior to taking early retirement, Francine was employed at the Northern Massachusetts Telephone Workers Credit Union for 20 years. Previous to the credit union she worked as a key punch operator at the Jackson Street location of Courier Citizen. Francine was a longtime and dedicated member of St. Mary Parish. Her favorite memories were made over many years while vacationing with family members in Bermuda and on the coast of Maine.
She is survived by her husband John, daughter and favorite son-in-law, Alison E. and Howie M. Kalman of Nashua, NH, son and favorite daughter-in-law, John W. and Kristine Ullom of Nashua, NH, sister, Pauline “Sissy” M. Murphy of Westford, three grandchildren, Joshua A. and Benjamin D. Kalman, and John A. Ullom, cousins and “sisters”, Bonnie Flanagan, Donna Rogers, and Linda Lawlor, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Francine is predeceased by two brothers, Edward W. Murphy and William F. Murphy both of Lowell, a sister, Elizabeth “Bettie” A. Murphy, and a precious granddaughter, Alexandra L. Ullom.
Visitation will be held at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD on Sunday from 1 until 4 pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 9 o’clock at St. Mary Church, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers donations in Francine’s memory can be made to St. Mary Capital Campaign, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford, MA 01824 or the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate Infirmary Fund made payable to the Oblate Infirmary Fund, 486 Chandler Street, Tewksbury, MA 01876.
