Obituary for Hazel Evans

WESTFORD – Hazel Hilda (Smith) Evans, 94, a longtime resident of Westford, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley. She was the beloved wife of the late Ellsworth Evans, Sr.

She was born in Boston on March 6, 1919 and was a daughter of the late Ernest and Lillian (Nelson) Smith.

Hazel was an active member of the West Chelmsford United Methodist Church. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, Saugus chapter and enjoyed spending time at the Westford Senior Center. She loved crocheting and needlepoint. Hazel enjoyed preparing delicious meals for her family and especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Hazel is survived by her children; Jacquelyn MacLaren and her husband William of Maine, Ellsworth Evans, Jr. and his wife Joanne of Westford, and Susan Sullivan and her husband Eugene of Chelmsford and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a daughter Pauline Murphy in 1966, and three brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet at the West Chelmsford United Methodist Church, 242 Main St., North Chelmsford on Thursday at 11 o’clock for her Funeral Service.

Private burial in Riverside Cemetery in Saugus.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the West Chelmsford United Methodist Church.
