Obituary for Elaine E. Nelson (Thackeray)

CHELMSFORD – Elaine E. Nelson, 87 a resident of Chelmsford since 1998, passed away on April 1, 2015 at Northwood Rehabilitation Center in Lowell. She was the beloved wife of the late Harry A. Nelson who died in 2000.

She was born in Haverhill, MA on July 7, 1927 and was a daughter of the late Louis G. and Ethel E. (Bruce) Thackeray.

Elaine received her early education in the Haverhill, MA school system. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a Group Leader of the Quality Assurance Department at Tranti Systems in Billerica.

Elaine was a member of the Matthew Memorial Primitive Methodist Church where she was also the Sanctuary Choir Director and a member of the Beacon Lights Class, Daughters of Faith, and the Joyful Noise Maker Choir. She was President of the Middlesex Women’s Club.

God called our mother home to live with him for eternity in heaven and for that we are so very happy for her. We know we will all see her again one day. We can just picture that welcome home hug when dad saw her. We love you mom!

She is survived by two daughters; Susan Clouter and her husband Greg of Billerica and Patricia Beairsto and her husband Steven of Washington and three sons; Harry A. Nelson, Jr. of Chelmsford, MA, John Nelson and his wife LeAnne of Salem, NH, and Robert Esposito of Lowell, AR. She also leaves a stepdaughter, Pam Woodburn of Plaistow, NH, 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, a brother Philip Thackeray of Lowell, a sister Patricia Halloran of Billerica, several nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Pat McMullen of Billerica, whom she loved very much. She was pre-deceased by two sons, Mark Nelson and Michael Esposito and her step-daughter Judy Goodrich and sister Janet Thackeray.

Elaine’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Northwood Rehabilitation Center and Dr. Sirakov for the exceptional care that was provided to their mom.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 10 am to 12 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. Her Funeral Service will follow at 12:30 pm at the Matthews Memorial Primitive Methodist Church, 128 Gorham St, Chelmsford. Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, donations in Elaine’s memory may be made to the Matthews Memorial Primitive Methodist Church Building Fund, 128 Gorham St., Chelmsford, MA 01824.
