CHELMSFORD- Barbara M. (Murphy) Zemaitis, 84, a lifelong resident of Chelmsford died on Friday, April 4, 2014 at Westford House. She was the beloved wife of the late John M. Zemaitis who passed away in 1977.

She was born on October 2, 1929 in N. Chelmsford, a daughter of the late John L. and Gladys M. (Holdsworth) Murphy. She received her education in Chelmsford schools and was a 1948 graduate of Chelmsford High School.

Prior to her retirement, Barbara was employed for over 30 years by Marshalls.

She was a parishioner of St. Mary Parish in Chelmsford and was an active member of Chelmsford Senior Center.

Barbara was very involved with all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and she never missed any of their sporting events or activities.
In her free time she enjoyed her trips to Lake Winnipesaukee, traveling with the seniors, and flying to Seattle to visit her grandchildren there.

She is survived by four children, Sheryl Pastore and her husband Dr. Michael Pastore of Bellevue, WA, John M. “Jack” Zemaitis Jr. and his wife Debra of Greenville, NH, Kathleen “Kathy” Lamarre of Westford, and Caroljean “CJ” Matthews and her husband Alan of Dracut. She also leaves eight grandchildren Erin Pastore, Mark Pastore, Deana Bouchard, Kelly Foster and her husband Rick, Kristen Lamarre, Keith Lamarre, Emily Matthews, and Kerry Matthews; four great-grandchildren Megan Bouchard, Aiden Foster, Devon Foster, and Adalyn Foster; two sisters, Carol Scollan of Westford and Jean Gaudette and her husband Vic of Box Elder, SD; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Judith Monty, who died in 2012; grandmother of the late John M. Pastore, who died in 2001; sister of the late Francis Murphy and Robert Murphy; and mother-in-law of the late Norman Monty.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 until 8pm at the Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 o’clock at St. Mary Church, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford.

Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery in Chelmsford.
