Obituary for Doris A. Tereshko (Lowrey)

NASHUA, NH- Doris A. (Lowrey) Tereshko, of Nashua and former longtime resident of Chelmsford, MA, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015 at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Jacob Tereshko, Jr. who predeceased her in 1988.

She was born in Lowell on April 27, 1924 a daughter of the late James and Rosella (Courchaine) Lowrey. Doris attended St. Michael’s School and graduated from Keith Hall in Lowell. She then went on to receive her degree in Elementary Education from Lowell State Teachers College.

Doris worked as an elementary school teacher at South Row School, in Chelmsford, for over 25 years. After retirement, Doris volunteered for many years at St Margaret Elementary School in Lowell.

Doris is survived by her loving children: Michael J. Tereshko and his wife Kathleen of Nashua, NH, Stephen P. Tereshko and his wife Patricia of Chelmsford and Donna T. McKittrick and her husband Robert of Charlestown, MA; seven grandchildren: Elizabeth (Tereshko) and her husband Anderson Donascimento, Christopher Tereshko, Lauren Tereshko, Jill Tereshko, Lisa Tereshko, Justin McCarthy and Maura (McCarthy) and her husband Ryan Lia; two step-grandchildren, Lauren McKittrick and R. Michael McKittrick and his wife Megan; her great-grandson, Macalister Jacob Lia; a sister, Ruth O’Hagan of Lowell and many nieces and nephews. Doris was predeceased by her siblings: Harold Lowrey, Geraldine (Lowrey) O’Brien, Chester Lowrey, and John Lowrey.

The Tereshko family would like to thank the staff and administration of the Huntington at Nashua for their compassionate care of Doris.

Doris joyfully volunteered years of her retirement to tutor students needing support services at St. Margaret School.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Margaret School, 486 Stevens Street, Lowell, MA 01851 for a scholarship that will be established in Doris’ memory, or to Catholic Relief Services, 228 W. Lexington Street, Baltimore, MD 21201-3443. (www.crs.org)

Visiting hours will be held on Friday evening from 4 to 8 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St. CHELMSFORD.

A Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 11 o’clock at St. Irene’s Church, 187 East St. Carlisle, MA.

Interment in the Russian Brotherhood Cemetery, Patten Rd. Westford.
