CHELMSFORD – Gerald F. “Jerry” Arndorfer, age 73, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, died Thursday, March 19, 2015, following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Judith A. (Gilbertson) Arndorfer, with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage in May.

Born in Milwaukee, WI on June 19, 1941, Jerry was the son of the late Francis and Gertrude (Purtell) Arndorfer and the identical twin of the late Tom Arndorfer. Jerry worked for many years as a chemist, most recently at Sleep Innovations in Newburyport.

Affectionately known as “Grampie,” his greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and going for walks with his wife. Jerry was known for his unique sense of humor and all who knew him will remember him with a smile.

Besides his wife, he is survived by six children, Pamela Cousineau and her husband Eric of Lowell, Kimberly Burgess and her husband Thomas of Lowell, Molly Somers and her husband Alfred, Jr., of Hudson, NH, Gerald Arndorfer, Jr., and his friend Gary Cook of Chelmsford, Charles Arndorfer and his companion Mary Cooney of Hudson, NH, and Elizabeth Arndorfer and her companion Kevin Corcoran of Chelmsford; eleven grandchildren, Katelyn, Alyson, Zachary, Christopher, Emily, Lauren, C.J., Ashley, Todd, Abby, and Madelyn; four brothers, four sisters, many nieces and nephews, and a dear sister-in-law with whom he was very close.

Visitation will be held at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD on Tuesday, March 24th from 4 until 8 pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 o’clock at St. Mary Church, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.
