Obituary for Avis G. Ducharme (Marshall)

CHELMSFORD – Avis G. (Marshall) (Smith) Ducharme, 91, a lifelong resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at the Palm Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph “Paul” Ducharme who died in 1998.

She was born in Lowell on February 29, 1924 and was a daughter of the late Arthur S. and Mabel (Eriksen) Marshall. She received her education in Chelmsford schools and was a graduate of Chelmsford High School, class of 1941.

Avis spent her life tending to the needs of her home and family. Her greatest joy in life came from spending time in the company of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She was a member of the Westford American Legion Auxiliary, Post 437 and she volunteered for many years at the Bedford VA.

Avis is survived by her children; Donna Gelinas and her husband John of Westford, Judy Sousa and her husband Leonard of Chelmsford, Billy Ducharme of Chelmsford, Ronnie Ducharme and his wife Mary Ellen of Garden Grove, CA, Cindy Buckingham and her husband James of Webster, MA, Donnie Ducharme and his wife Cheryl of Chelmsford, Paula Scott and her husband Gerry of Westford, and Jay Ducharme and his wife Tina of North Chelmsford; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her son Robert C. Smith, grandson Craig M. Ducharme, and brother A. Gordon Marshall.

Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Friday at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD.

Her Funeral Service will be celebrated at the Funeral Home on Saturday at 10 o’clock.

Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
