Obituary for Alice P. Kern (Halloran)

Alice P. Kern (Halloran)
WESTFORD - Alice P. Kern, a longtime resident of Westford, passed away suddenly on June 27, 2015. She was 68 years old.

Alice was the beloved wife of Edward, with whom she had celebrated 47 years of marriage.

Born in Lowell in March of 1947, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Halloran of Tewksbury. She received her early education at the Sacred Heart School and graduated from Lowell High School in 1964. After high school, Alice lived in Tewksbury and worked for the Army Missile Command at the Raytheon Plant in Andover (where she met Ed). She also worked at Tewksbury Junior High School and the Natick Army Laboratories. After marrying in 1968, Alice and Ed lived in Lowell, and in 1972 they moved to Westford, where they would spend the rest of their lives together. Alice was active in the community as a member of the Newcomer's Club, PTA, and various school committees.

Alice was a kind, caring, and gentle soul who always put others first. The simplest things made her happy and she enjoyed nothing more than the company of her family. A lover of life and people, she made friends wherever she went and always found the best in everyone. For 25 years she endured the severe effects of rheumatoid arthritis but somehow remained positive through her pain. Her strength was an inspiration.

Alice will be remembered most for the unconditional love and loyalty that she showed to her family. She was adored and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her husband Ed, daughter Allison of Cambridge, and son Dave and his wife Amy of Louisville, KY. She was the beloved “Grammy” of Bella, Liam, Noah, and Phoebe. She is also survived by her brother Joseph Halloran and sister Gail Elliot, both of Tewksbury.

At Alice's request there will be no services.

Memorial contributions in memory of Alice can be made to the Rheumatology Research Foundation www.rheumresearch.org.
