Obituary for Ann Marie Rawnsley (Bernazani)

MARATHON, FL – Ann Marie (Bernazani) Rawnsley, age 77, a resident of Marathon, FL and Hampton, NH, and former resident of Chelmsford died Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill. She was the beloved wife of George F. Rawnsley, to whom she was married for 18 years.

She was born in Boston on July 27, 1938, and was a daughter of the late Henry A. and Lillian (Marchi) Bernazani. She received her education in Revere schools and was a graduate of Revere High School. She was also graduated top in her class from Chelsea Memorial School of Nursing.

Early in life, Ann was employed as a registered nurse by Chelsea Memorial Hospital, Soldiers’ Home in Chelsea, and Grover Manor Hospital in Revere.

The part of her life that she took the most pride in was raising her six boys.

Ann was an avid runner and she completed numerous marathons. She was a member of the New England 65 Plus Runners Club, the Greater Lowell Road Runners, the Key West Southernmost Runners Club. Her greatest joy was spending time in the company of her loving grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her six sons, Michael Sartorelli and his wife Linda of Hampton, NH, Paul Sartorelli and his wife Pamela of Haverhill, John Sartorelli and his wife Kathy of Chelmsford, Edward Sartorelli of Chelmsford, Thomas Sartorelli and his wife Molly of West End, North Carolina, and Richard Sartorelli and his wife Sibel of New Hyde Park, NY; two stepchildren, Marla Rawnsley and Douglas Rawnsley, both of Daytona Beach, FL, fourteen grandchildren; her good friend and father of her sons, Vincent Sartorelli of Amesbury; two brothers, Henry Bernazani of Milford, NH and Larry Bernazani and his wife Ann of Malden; a sister, Carol Bruno and her husband Tony of Woburn; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Edward Bernazani and the late Mitzi Fulchino.

Visitation will be held at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD on Wednesday from 4 until 8 pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 o’clock at St. Mary Church, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford. Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ann’s memory to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
