Obituary for Phyllis I Roy
LOWELL- Phyllis I. (Beckwith) Roy, 82, of Lowell, formerly of Bluff City, TN, North Chelmsford, MA, and North Adams, MA passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Lowell General Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert J. Roy, Sr. who died in 2008.
Born in North Adams on November 7, 1933 she was the daughter of the late Leon P. and Elizabeth (Vokey) Beckwith and sister to Leon, Ed, Florence, Betty and Don who predeceased her.
Phyllis was a former member of the North Adams United Methodist Church. She greatly enjoyed singing and performing and had been a member of the Senior Center Virginia Singing Group in Bristol, TN. For the last several years, Phyllis resided with her daughter, Deborah, who was her caregiver until her declining health brought her to Town & Country Nursing Home where she received exceptional care from the staff, especially Joi.
Phyllis is survived by her children; Deborah Roy of Lowell, Patricia Roy Fisher and her husband Brian of Chelmsford, and Robert Joseph Roy, Jr. and his companion Donna Hamel of Lowell; six dearly loved grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place on Saturday from 2 to 4 pm at the Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford, followed by a brief service at the funeral home at 4 pm.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations in Phyllis’ name may be made to a charity of one’s own choice.
