Robert W  Willis
Robert W. “Bob” Willis, a resident of Westford, and former resident of Bedford, passed away on Friday November 20, 2015 following a brief period of declining health. He was the loving husband of Mary J. (McCarthy) Willis who passed away on November 7, 2015.

Born in Newton on December 5, 1931, he was the only child of late Earle and Sarah (Goldrick) Willis.
Bob was a graduate of Newton High School and Boston College with a degree in Chemistry and was a Veteran of United States Army.

Bob was a chemist, inventor, an executive in the aerospace industry, and a business owner for many years in the solar energy field. He was actively involved in town and state governments. He was also a WWII aficionado and taught classes on this subject at Boston College and Regis College in their Life Long Learning programs for retired adults. He was an avid golfer and volunteered at many local golf tournaments.

Bob is survived by his children, Steven Willis and his wife Elissa Freud of Cambridge, MA, Karen Willis and her husband John Downing of Chelmsford, MA and Susan Fox of Costa Mesa, CA as well as his beloved grandchildren; Rebecca, Jillian, Sarah, Brad, Alex, Sydney and Emma. Bob is also survived by "dozens of cousins" of the Geishecker, Herlihy, Callahan, Willis, and Goldrick families.

Bob’s family would like to thank the staff at Emerson Hospital for their compassionate care and kindness.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Saturday December 5, 2015 at 9:30 AM in St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish, 107 North Main St., Westford, MA. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Burial will take place at Noon in Newton Cemetery, 791 Walnut St., Newton, MA.

For those who wish, and in lieu of flowers, donations in Robert’s memory may be made to the Paul Center, 39 Concord Rd., Chelmsford, MA, 01824, or to the charity of one’s choice.
