Obituary for Sylvia P Eliopoulos

Sylvia P  Eliopoulos
Sylvia P. Eliopoulos, of Chelmsford, a member of a well-known Lowell and Chelmsford family, recently passed into eternal rest with loving family by her side. A private funeral service was held at the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell.

A graduate of Lowell High School and Lowell Commercial College, Sylvia was employed as a bookkeeper at the A & P Supermarket in Lowell. She also worked with her brothers at Nabnasset Pharmacy in Westford as the store manager and gift shop merchandiser. She made a lasting impression on her customers, especially the children, who grew up and asked for her long after her retirement.

Sylvia was the second oldest daughter of Peter and Diamondo Ladopoulos Eliopoulos. She is survived by her three brothers, Daniel P. Eliopoulos of Lowell, George P. Eliopoulos of Chelmsford and his fiancée Ellen Simorellis, and Dr. John P. Eliopoulos and his wife Betty of Swampscott; five sisters, Despena Zouzas and her husband Samuel of Chelmsford, Regina Dabilis and her husband Arthur of Chelmsford, Christine, Helen and Ethel Eliopoulos, all of Chelmsford, two sisters-in-law, Antoinette Eliopoulos of Chelmsford and Olga Eliopoulos of Westford, her godchild, Dacey Zouzas, and by many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Sylvia was predeceased by two brothers, Angelo P. Eliopoulos and Michael P. Eliopoulos, her two sisters, Evelyn Georgenes and Stella P. Kokinacis, her brother-in-law, Harry S. Kokinacis and her sister-in-law Rosemary Eliopoulos.

In earlier years, Sylvia enjoyed many European adventures and socializing with her special group of friends – the original “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.” She took pleasure in decorating her home for each holiday season, dining at the Vesper Country Club, reading, listening to music, shopping and summering at her home in Ogunquit, Maine, where she cultivated enduring friendships. Sylvia was a lifelong parishioner of the Transfiguration Church in Lowell. She was also a member of the Hellenic Cultural Club and the Philoptochos, a charitable woman’s organization. She will be deeply missed. May her beautiful memory be ever Eternal!
