NASHUA, NH – Betty Evelyn (Leaverton) Holmes, age 82, a resident of Nashua, NH passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 27th at Kindred Greenbriar Terrace in Nashua, NH. She was the beloved wife of Robert Kempton Holmes who died in 1990.

She was born in Houston, TX on June 26, 1933 and was a daughter of the late George Stuart and Dorothy Louise (Cathey) Leaverton. She received her education in Houston schools and was a graduate of Lamar High School in Houston and she had attended the University of Houston.

Prior to her retirement, Betty had worked for many years for the Chelmsford school system, most recently as a career counselor.

She was a former, longtime member of West Chelmsford United Methodist Church.

Betty was an avid New England Patriots fan and she enjoyed Texas Bluebonnets, Texas barbecues, and cooking, especially baking cookies with her adoring grandchildren.

She is survived by her two children, Kenneth S. Holmes of Goshen, NH and Shirley G. Lussier and her husband James of Hudson, NH; two grandchildren, Abbey E. Lussier and Michael R. Lussier, both of Hudson, NH; a sister, Marjorie Randerson and her husband Darryl of Las Vegas, NV; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD on Wednesday from 4 until 7 pm. Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 10 o’clock at the Funeral Home. Interment in Fairview Cemetery in N. Chelmsford.
