Obituary for Dr. Robert L. Jones
ORLEANS – Dr. Robert L. Jones, 89, of Orleans, former longtime resident of Sudbury and Chelmsford, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Hardy) Jones to whom he has been happily married for 64 years.
He was born in Chelmsford on February 4, 1927 and was a son of the late Robert L. and Barbara (Brown) Jones.
Robert was born and raised in Chelmsford.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during WWII.
He was a graduate of Princeton University and Tufts Medical School. He spent his entire career as an OB/GYN partnered at Women’s Specialist of Framingham. Following retirement, he and Elizabeth moved to Orleans. Robert loved to read and enjoyed spending his time golfing, walking, and enjoying the outdoors.
In addition to his loving wife, Robert is survived by their children; Bruce Jones and his wife Susan of Wyoming, Douglas Jones and his wife Cathy of Medway, Janet Perkins and her husband Edward of Stow, Catherine Jones of Gilroy, CA, Ellen Jones and her husband Ahmad of Gilroy, CA and Andrew Jones of Falmouth, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He also leaves a sister, Barbara Jones of Chelmsford.
At the request of his family, calling hours have been omitted.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 12:30 pm at the Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford.
Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 150 Appleton St., Lowell, MA 01852.
