CHELMSFORD- Maurice L. Butler, 83, longtime resident of Chelmsford, died peacefully March 24, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia A. (Faircloth) Butler who died on June 30, 2010. They shared 59 years of loving marriage.

Maurice was born in Lumberton, NC on June 10, 1932 and was the son of the late Orville M. and Bertha E. (Norton) Butler.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force where he taught radar and electronics.

He was employed by RCA as an engineer and was a part of the Rendezvous Radar on the Lunar Module that landed on the moon. He was later employed by Raytheon in Andover and worked in both the Hawk and Patriot Missile Programs, until his retirement.

Maurice had many hobbies but really enjoyed photography and gardening. He loved his neighbors and enjoyed having neighborhood parties. Above all, he cherished and loved his family deeply.

He is survived by his two sons; Maurice LaVaine Butler, Jr. and his wife Karen of Lowell, and Ronald A. Butler and his wife Jill of Chelmsford; his daughter Daurice K. Courcy of Greene, ME; his sister Syvon Hills of Las Vegas, NV; his seven grandchildren, Jason P. Butler, Rich R. Boisvert and his wife Tina, Kara M. Boisvert, Christopher L. Butler and his fiancé Jennifer Robin, Ashlyn P. Lord and her husband Nathan, Rik W. Courcy, and Evan R. Butler; as well as many dear friends and neighbors.

Maurice was the father of the late Gregory L. Butler who left us much to soon in 1991.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation to be held on Monday, March 28, 2016 from 4 until 7 PM at the Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford.

His Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 10 AM. Interment with military honors will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
