Condolences

Condolence From: Sandy Kane - Class of 79
Condolence: I was lucky enough to have Mr. Phinney for choir for 3 years at BHS. And I participated in the musicals. What fun! Those experiences - of learning music and performing - were so special to me. They remain my most fond memories of my high school days. Here I am, nearly 40 years later, and I can still remember all of the lyrics to songs from ANYTHING GOES! ;)

Bless you, and thank you, Mr. Phinney, for being such an excellent educator and such an inspiration to so many! We will never forget you.

Condolence From: MaryJane Glenn Portnoy, Class of 1964
Condolence: Mr Phinney brought to us the wonderful world of vocal music in a variety of ways. He touched so many lives at Bedford High School. Through his professionalism, he set a high example of how we should behave in our own professional lives. And, he gave us some wonderful memories of our high school years. Rest in Peace, Mr. Phinney

Condolence From: Geoff Spofford, BHS Class of 1981
Condolence: Mr. Phinney will be remembered by thousand of us who were lucky enough to have been part of the BHS musicals. He expected everyone involved with the shows to work hard, to give their best effort and to be confident about their abilities. Leads, cast, stage crew and everyone who made a show succeed were important to Mr. Phinney. He took tremendous pride in the musicals and insisted that all of us in the shows be proud, as well.

When I try cases or argue before judges I speak clearly, I slow my speech down if I am nervous and I speak with confidence. Mr. Phinney taught us more than just music and performing on stage.

I find it ironic that 35 years after graduating I will sadly miss Mr. Phinney's memorial because I am chaperoning my daughters' high school choral trip.

I will raise a glass of Fresca (understood by many past BHS performers) to Mr. Phinney. We all lost a great friend and mentor.

Condolence: I'm sorry to hear about Keith Phinney. He was a gentle task master in choir and the musicals when I attended Bedford High School, and I loved him for it, especially later in my life when I could fully appreciate what he had done for us. I never knew he flew B-17s in WW II. I wish I had know that! Just one more reason to mourn a wonderful teacher and combat veteran. I know he inspired many people over the years he spent in the Bedford School system and the various choirs he worked with. I will always have fond memories of Mr. Phinney! Bedford High School, Class of 1964.

Condolence: I am very sad to hear of Mr. Phinney's passing. He was my favorite teacher in high school. He had an infectious smile and an amazing tenor voice. And as handsome in his later years as he was back then. To all his family, may your hearts find peace as time goes on. I know there lies a huge void in your lives, but find comfort in the memories together. Remember, he is only a thought away.
