Florida Hope "Flo"  Haney
CHELMSFORD- Florida “Flo” Hope (Roth) Haney, 83, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 3, 2016 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home.

Flo was born in Boston on July 29, 1932. She was the daughter of the late William Leo and Florida Elva (Chapdelaine) Roth. She was a graduate of Jamaica Plain High School.

She spent her early years raising her family. Later in life, Flo was employed as a waitress and bookkeeper at Friendly’s in Chelmsford for many years as well as a teacher’s aide for the South Row School.

In her free time, Flo loved playing cards and bowling, and she was an avid Red Sox fan. She had a socializing group of friends who regularly met for card games. She had a passion for wild birds and always kept her window birdfeeder well stocked with seeds, and suet in the winter. Flo enjoyed trips to Foxwoods, watching Jeopardy, and easy listening music. She was very independent where she lived at home up until a short time ago.

She is survived by her two sons, David Haney of Ottawa, Ontario and Michael Haney and his wife Sarah Hover of Oak Hill, Virginia, her siblings John “Jack” Roth of Hyde Park, Mary Whitehouse of Billerica, and Alice Robb of Billerica, her four grandchildren; Jessica, Scott, Michelle, and Daniel Haney, her longtime friend Yvonne Jack of Arizona, and her daughter-in-law Denise Haney of Ottawa, Ontario, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Flo is predeceased by her five siblings as well as her sister-in-law Mary Lou Roth and brother-in-law David Robb.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 12th from 1 until 4 PM at the Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen Street, Chelmsford.

Her Funeral will be held from the Funeral Home on Monday, June 13th at 12:30 PM followed by her interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Flo’s name to one’s charity of choice.
