William J. Lewis, 89, a resident of Littleton and former longtime Chelmsford resident, passed away on Thursday June 9, 2016, at home with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Joan (Dempsey) Lewis with whom he would have celebrated 62 years of marriage on June 12, 2016.

Born in Boston on June 7, 1927, he was a son of the late William Joseph and Harriett (Bennett) Lewis.

Bill enlisted in the United States Navy and served during World War II in the Asian Pacific Theater until his honorable discharge.

Bill graduated from Boston College and went on to receive an MBA from Northeastern University. He was the owner of an Executive Personnel Recruitment agency and was also a Human Resource Consultant.

Bill was Past President and served on the Board of Governors for the Concord Rod and Gun Club in Concord, MA. He was Past President of the Merrimack Valley Rotary from 1996-1997 and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He held membership and was President of the Northeastern University Club of Lowell. Bill was an avid outdoorsman.

In addition to his wife, Joan, survivors include his children and their spouses, Julia (Lewis) and George Frascarelli of Chelmsford, Dr. William and Suzanne Lewis of Westford, Charles Lewis of Littleton, Mark and Erika Lewis of Westford, Ann (Lewis) and John Jordan of New Canaan, CT; His grandchildren, Colleen Frascarelli, Ann Frascarelli, George Frascarelli, IV, William J. Lewis, III, Matthew Lewis, Jeffrey Lewis, Charles Lewis, Jr, Joseph Lewis, Stephen Lewis, Griffin Lewis, Andrew Jordan, Shannon Jordan and Ryan Jordan; a sister, Irene Bolton of Holden, MA; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was the brother of the late Walter and James Lewis.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 from 4-8 PM in the Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen Street, Chelmsford.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 11 AM in St. Mary Parish, 25 North Road, Chelmsford. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH.

Family members will travel to St. Charles Cemetery in Bellow Falls Vermont immediately following Mass for interment.
