Obituary for Roger R Dufresne

Roger R  Dufresne
CHELMSFORD – Roger R. Dufresne, 65, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family, following a 4 ½ year battle with lung cancer. He was the beloved husband of Geraldine “Gerri” (Lavoie) Dufresne with whom he recently celebrated 43 years of marriage.

He was born in Lowell on August 6, 1950 and was a son of the late Arthur and Gabrielle (Levasseur) Dufresne.

Prior to his illness, Roger had worked as an Operations Manager for Packaging Partners, LLC in Lawrence. Previously, he spent many years employed by Wang Laboratories in Lowell. Roger was a member of the Chelmsford Boosters and was instrumental in the building of the new snack shack. His pastimes included golfing, woodworking, and taking care of his yard. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He made a great impact on everyone he met.

In addition to his loving wife, Roger is survived by his daughters; Tracy Carney and her husband Jason of Lowell, Kerri Wilson and her husband Daniel of Chelmsford, and Lauren Dufresne and her fiancé Catherine Adrian of Chelmsford; and six grandchildren; Matthew, Maggie, Evan, Katherine, Jack, and Kaleigh. He also leaves a sister Theresa Christian and her husband Raymond of Lowell and a brother Robert Dufresne and his fiancé Phyllis Shelley of Mansfield, , his mother-in-law, and many other special family and friends.

Roger’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Ivy and Jocelyn from VNA Hospice Care., and Dr. Stacy Gray and Pam Calarese of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute for the exceptional care they provided to Roger and his family.

Visiting hours Thursday from 4 to 8 pm at the Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 9:30 am at St. Margaret Parish, 374 Stevens St., Lowell.

PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH.

Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Roger’s name to the Lowe Center for Thoracic Oncology, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215.
