Obituary for Marion Louise Donigan (Buckley)
CHELMSFORD- Marion Louise (Buckley) Donigan, 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, August 6, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of John M. Donigan Sr. with whom she shared 63 devoted years of marriage.
She was born in Salem, MA on September 8, 1921. Marion was the daughter of the late Francis and Mary (Cahill) Buckley.
Prior to her retirement, Marion was employed as a secretary for Raytheon for 15 years.
Marion loved to cook and was known for her big batches of cookies that she would bake for holidays and friends and family. She also enjoyed sewing and she would make sure to stay up late at night so that all of her children had handmade clothes, especially for special occasions and holidays. Marion would also teach many girls in her neighborhood to sew and make clothes for their dolls. In her younger years, she enjoyed golfing, horseback riding and learned to drive at a very early age. Above all, Marion cherished her time spent with her family and loved them dearly.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her six children, John Donigan Jr. of Chelmsford, Nancy Elacqua of Natick, Jeanne Villare and her husband Eugene of Chelmsford, Therese Englehardt and her husband Bill of Bradford, Michael Donigan and his wife Suzy of Chelmsford, and Anne Robinson and her husband John of Chelmsford. She is also survived by her 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Marion is predeceased by her son Thomas Donigan, grandson Timothy Englehardt, and her sisters Rita Nelson and Jean Coughlin.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 13th at 9 AM in St. Mary Church, 25 North Road, Chelmsford. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marion's name to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, PO Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202 or to the Timothy Michael Englehardt Scholarship Fund, 84 Lincolnshire Drive, Bradford, MA 01835.
