Obituary for Lorraine M. Stauffer (Leather)
LOWELL- Lorraine M. (Leather) Stauffer, 86, a lifelong resident of Chelmsford, died peacefully, Tuesday morning, October 25, 2016 at Fairhaven Healthcare. She was the beloved wife of Richard P. Stauffer with whom she shared 62 years of marriage.
Lorraine was born in Malden on April 14, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Harold and Anna (Ferris) Leather.
She was employed for many years by Raytheon until her retirement in 1995.
Lorraine enjoyed camping trips with her husband and belonged to the Holiday Ramblers and Suburban Ramblers. She and her husband would also winter in Florida prior to her illness. Lorraine loved to crochet and play Bingo but her most cherished time was spent with her family.
In addition to her husband, Lorraine is survived by her five children, Allan Stauffer of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Paul Stauffer and his companion Cheri Hayward of Elkhart, Indiana, Thomas Stauffer of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Gail Vettrus and her husband Ken of Fitchburg, and Jeffrey Stauffer of San Francisco, CA; her nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Lorraine was the sister of Harold "Hank" Leather, Jr.
At the request of Lorraine's family, services will be held privately.
