LOWELL- Sarah (DerMelkonian) Kalivas, 92, a longtime Lowell resident, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016 with her loving family by her side.

She was beloved wife of the late George T. Kalivas, and loving mother of the late Stella (Kalivas) Santis.

Sarah was born in Beirut, Lebanon on August 9, 1924 a daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Boyajian) DerMelkonian.
Sarah was a member of Sts.Vartanantz Armenian Church in Chelmsford, where she was also a member of their Women's Guild.

Prior to her retirement, Sarah worked as a seamstress for many years at the MF Horan Co. in Lowell.

Sarah is survived by her daughters; Elizabeth Kalivas and Victoria Cappella both of Lowell, her son-in-law, Harry Santis of Lowell, her sister-in laws, Mary Kalivas of Lowell and Pat Bernier of Chelmsford, a brother-in-law, Ray Anderson of Chelmsford as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband George and her daughter Stella, Sarah was predeceased by her siblings; Mary Annaian, Victoria Kuzenian, Lucy Misakyan, Alice Pashayan, Sarkis DerMelkonian and Sesag DerMelkonian, and son-in-law, Kenneth W. Cappella.

Relatives and friends may call at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD on Wednesday from 4 until 8PM. Her Funeral Service will be held Thursday at 11 o'clock at Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Church, 180 Old Westford Rd., Chelmsford. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell.
