Edwin W.  Fraser
WESTFORD- Edwin W. Fraser, 91, a former resident of Westford passed away on Thursday November 24, 2016 at the Edith Norse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford where he was currently residing. He was the loving husband of the late Dorothy J. (Harlow) Fraser.

In 1943, Eddie enlisted in the United States Army serving during World War II. Earning the rank of PFC and also a combat medic, he was among the 503rd Airborne’s Regimental Combat Team (RCT) of 1,800 paratroopers who made a surprise assault on the island of Corregidor in the Philippines. During three years in the Southwest Pacific, Ed Fraser fought in several major offensives. He was a double Purple Heart recipient and was proud to have served his country.

For many years, Ed was self employed as a carpenter and operated EdWal Construction. For 30 years, Edwin was a Master Mason.

Survivors include, Edwin W. "Mickey" Fraser, Jr. and his wife, Patricia of Litchfield, NH, Sandra J. Fraser of Chelmsford, Susan J. Fraser and Kevin Moschen of Chelmsford, Deborah D. Kinghorn and her husband Joseph of Westford; his grandchildren, Raymond K. Fraser, Carey O'Leary and her husband Michael, Paul J. Martinage, Joseph P. Kinghorn, Jr., Katelen J. Kinghorn; one great grandchild, Meghan E. O'Leary; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Minnie Hayes, Virginia MacGilvray, Janette Brown, Albert Fraser, Louis Fraser, Robert Fraser and Clara Clement.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Edith Norse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford for their extraordinary care towards Edwin.

As those who fought on Corregidor can affirm, “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my strength, in whom I will trust” (Psalm 18:2). For He has promised: “Never will I leave you. Never will I forsake you, no not ever” (Hebrews 13:5).

It being his request, visitation has been omitted.

Relatives and Friends are invited to his Funeral Service to be held on Wednesday November 30, 2016 at Journey Church on the Common (formerly Central Baptist Church) 9 Academy St., Chelmsford at 11 o’clock.

Interment with military honors will follow in Heart Pond Cemetery, Chelmsford.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital, 200 Springs Rd., Bedford, MA 01730.
