CHELMSFORD – Elizabeth C. “Betty” Harrison, 94 years old, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 21, 2017 at The Atrium at Drum Hill in North Chelmsford.

She was born May 11, 1922 in Lowell, MA, the daughter of the late John Rutner and Ester (Cole) Rutner. She was raised in Lowell where she attended grade school and Indianapolis, IN. where she graduated High School. She was also a graduate of the former Lowell Commercial College.
She married her husband Maurice in July 1947 in Lowell, MA. They spent most of their married life in Chelmsford at 5 Latch Road . They shared 54 years of marriage before he passed away in 2001.
Betty is survived by her son, Peter J. and his wife Donna M. of Nashua, NH and Waterville Valley, NH (formerly of Chelmsford) and her beloved granddaughters, Nicole Beck Harrison of North Andover and Stephanie Cole (Harrison) Pasley of Coventry, RI.

She was a long time member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Lowell and the Central Baptist Church in Chelmsford. Betty was an avid golfer and bowler and a Honorary Lifetime member of Vesper Country Club. She was a warden for the Town of Chelmsford for the 7th District for many years, a longtime Volunteer in the Lowell General Hospital Gift Shop, and an active member of the Chelmsford Garden club for 48 years. Although she had many passions in her life watching over her granddaughters and attending nearly every activity and sporting event of theirs was what gave her the most pleasure in life. She was known by her granddaughters and their friends as Nay Nay.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Wednesday, January 25th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD. Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 26th at 10:00am in the funeral home with Rev. Chuck Oblom officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
