Obituary for Richard Henry Levell

Richard Henry  Levell
Richard H. Levell, of Chelmsford, formerly of Alfred, ME, passed away unexpectedly at his home. He was eighty six years old. He was the beloved husband of fifty five years to the late Marie (Ravesi) Levell who passed away in 2009.

Richard was born in Athol, the son of the late Norman and Adelaide (Wickham) Levell. He was raised and educated in Orange and enlisted in the United States Air Force upon completing his education. He served honorably in the Korean War and worked as a radio controller. He served for a total of ten years in the US Air Force which took him from Mississippi to Labrador.

Richard was introduced to his beloved wife Marie, through his sister. At the time, Richard was in the service and Marie was working as a teacher. They married and settled first in Mississippi before moving to Saugus, Peabody and then Georgetown, MA. After leaving the Air Force, Richard worked for many years as an assistant chief of flight service for the Federal Aviation Administration. Upon retirement, Richard and Marie made their home in Alfred, ME. Richard was a passionate fan of the New England Patriots and collected many model trains. An accomplished woodworker, he crafted numerous pieces of furniture. In his later years, he remained passionate about politics, always in tune with current events.

Richard is survived by his three daughters, Valerie Levell Sweeney and her husband Scott of Hampstead, N.H., Stephanie Levell and husband Jim Lynch of Chelmsford and Melanie Levell Brutler and husband Zoltan of Groton.; six grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Erin, Matthew, Megan and James as well as one great-grandson, Peter. Richard also leaves a brother John Levell and two sisters, Dorothy Fagan and Ann Gardner.

Memorial Visitation will be held in the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD on Saturday, January 28, 2017 from 12 until 2 PM. Calling hours will conclude with a prayer service at 2 PM. Interment will be held privately.
