Obituary for Aldona C. "Donna" Pechulis (Shapalis)
Aldona C. "Donna" (Shapalis) Pechulis, who was 99.97 years old, passed away at her home on Saturday January 28, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles P. Pechulis.
Born in Boston on February 9, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Charlotte (Yanish) Shapalis.
Donna worked for many years as a bookkeeper for the American Meteorological Society in Boston.
She was a faithful communicant of St. Mary parish in Chelmsford. She had been active in the past as a Eucharistic minister and CCD teacher. She was an avid volunteer at the Chelmsford Senior Center. She enjoyed traveling all over the world with her husband to places including Hawaii and Lithuania. A talented seamstress, it was nothing for Donna to make a complete dress in just one day. She will lovingly be remembered for many things but especially her signature homemade apple pies.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rosemarie and Leo Gendron of Hudson, NH; three grandchildren and their spouses, Colleen and Christopher Neu of Telford, PA, Elizabeth and Michael Hogan of Derry, NH and Matthew Gendron of Hudson, NH; a sister, Mildred Kiley of Newton, MA; many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Algert Shapalis.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday January 31, 2017 from 4 until 7 PM in the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday February 1, 2017 at 11 o'clock in St. Mary Parish, 25 North Road, Chelmsford. Interment will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford. Donna was very charitable and would be honored by a donation in her loving memory to the charity of one's choice.
