Obituary for John G. "Jack" Abbott

John G. "Jack"  Abbott
CHELMSFORD- John G. "Jack" Abbott, 82, a longtime Chelmsford resident, passed away peacefully at Heritage Nursing Care Center in Lowell on March 5, 2017 following a period of declining health.

Born in Charlestown on September 15, 1934, he was a son of the late John B. and Eleanor (Larocque) Abbott.

For more than 20 years, Jack was employed as a sales and distribution manager for Advanced Micro Devices. Jack was well known for his business acumen in the semiconductor world, quick wit, and an avid reader. His life was focused on business and family. He traveled extensively throughout the US and Canada supporting a vast territory. During his retirement years, he spent much of his time with his wife, going on trips along the northeast coastline from Cape Cod to Maine. He had a passion for the game of golf, the family pets, the arts, spending much of his final years drawing.

He is survived by his children, Melinda Abbott of Westford, Deirdre Abbott Casey and her husband, Jack of Los Angeles, California and Alyssa Abbott & her partner, Sheryl Runge of Chelmsford and his siblings, Eleanor Ridlon of Charlestown, Massachusetts, Paul Abbott of Florence, Massachusetts, Dotty Abbott-Hickey & her husband Walter of Sonoma, California and his many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor M. (Drews) Abbott in 2016.

Visitation will be held on Saturday March 11, 2017 from 1 until 4 PM in the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen Street, Chelmsford.

Interment will be held privately.
