Obituary for Robert M Sexton

CHELMSFORD – Robert M. Sexton, 87, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Palm Center in Chelmsford. He was the beloved husband of Anne-Lise (Sorensen) Sexton and they would have celebrated 65 years of marriage in May.

He was born on September 15, 1929 in Jersey City, NJ and was the son of the late Robert M. and Ruth (Davis) Sexton.

Bob was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps., having served during the Korean War. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Newark College of Engineering and was proud to have been part of the team that worked on the original lunar landing in 1969. Bob also volunteered his services with the Town of Chelmsford for various building projects over the years. He and Anne-Lise travelled extensively and had many wonderful memories of their trips around the world.

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his children: Lynn Burns and her husband David of Foxborough, MA; Glenn Sexton and his wife Diana of Greensboro, NC; Wayne Sexton and his wife Wendy of Acworth, GA; and Wendy Harrington and her husband Michael of Chelmsford; and grandchildren: James Burns and his wife Sarah, Lauren Burns, Eric Burns, Justin Sexton and his wife Juliet, Lindsay Sexton, Nick Sexton, Sean Harrington and Brett Harrington, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also predeceased by his sister, Janet (Sexton) Avery of Dummerston, VT.

The family would like to thank the Palm Center for their dedication and support over the last three years.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 1:00-3:00 PM, to conclude with a military service at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford.

Interment will be held privately.
