Margaret M. (O'Donnell) Mitchell, 89, a longtime resident of Westford, passed away peacefully on Monday March 20, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. "Jack " Mitchell.

Born in Norwood on November 29, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Julia (Connelly) O'Donnell of Co. Galway, Ireland.

Margaret was the eldest of six and her siblings always looked up to her. She went to Peabody School for dressmaking and enjoyed making her own clothes. She was very stylish and took great pride in looking her best for all occasions. She relished going out to dinner with her husband, Jack and her family. Margaret and Jack were married to for 55 years before his passing in 2012.

Margaret is survived by her children and their spouses, Cheryl Ducharme and her husband, Donnie of Chelmsford; Doreen Mitchell-Bernberg of Metarie, LA; Pam Clark and her husband, Tadd of Groton; a son-in-law, Dominic Gioia of Arcade, NY; a sister, Marion Kavolius of Norwood; seven grandchildren, Maple, Jonathan, Patricia, Danielle, Ariel, Adam, Kyla; two great grandchildren, Jack and Harper; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. In addition, she leaves her sister Marian Kavolius of Norwood. She was the sister of the late Dottie Clifford and Robert, Francis and Jack O'Donnell. She was the mother of the late Sharon Gioia.

Visitation will be held on Friday March 31, 2017 from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM in the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen Street, Chelmsford. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 10 AM in St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish, 107 North Main St., Westford.

Burial will be held privately.
