Obituary for Robert W. Perry

Robert W. Perry
Robert “Bob” Perry of Lowell, formerly of Chelmsford, MA and Chapel Hill, NC, passed away April 7 from complications of a stroke. He was 56 years old.

Preceded in death by his parents, the late Will and Anne Perry of Chelmsford, he was born in Lowell on April 5, 1961.

He grew up in Chelmsford and was a 1979 graduate of Chelmsford High School. He attended the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Known as Robby to his family and Bob to his friends, he was a natural comedian and gifted storyteller with an adventurous spirit who made life more interesting and satisfying for all who knew him. He made friends easily and kept them forever with a deep sense of loyalty and a generous spirit.

In the 1980s Bob coached soccer in Chelmsford and organized his team’s trip to Chelmsford, England. He was a huge movie buff and sports fan and excelled at trivia. While Robby faced numerous health challenges as an adult, including 2 kidney transplants and years on dialysis, he didn’t let them deter him. He continued to travel widely. For the past several years he was the bookkeeper at the Bridge Café in Manchester, NH. Earlier he worked at Wyeth Laboratories in Andover in desktop support.

He leaves behind four heartbroken siblings: Stephen of Newton, MA; Michelle and her husband Scott Johnston of Escondido, CA; David and his wife Joanne of Lowell, MA; and Marc of Washington, DC; nephews and nieces Andrew, Matthew, Alyson, and Emily Perry of Lowell, MA; numerous cousins, countless friends from near and far, and his beloved Golden Retriever, Dexter.

Visitation will be held on Sunday April 9, 2017 from 4 until 7 PM in the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday morning at 11 AM in St. Mary Parish, 25 North Road, CHELMSFORD. Interment will follow in Heart Pond Cemetery, CHELMSFORD.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his name to the organ transplant clinics at either Boston University or the Lahey Clinic, Burlington, MA., and registering as an organ donor. To properly remember Bob we suggest you cherish your favorite story involving him, of which there are surely many.
