Obituary for Bob Calawa
HARTFORD, ME- Bob Calawa, 88, a resident of Hartford, Maine and a former resident of Chelmsford, MA, passed away peacefully after a period of declining health at his home in Maine on May 6, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Victoria "Vicki" (Aveni) Cunningham of Hartford, Maine with whom he would have celebrated 30 years of marriage in July.
Born in Nashua, NH on October 16, 1928, he was a son of the late Oscar A. and Alice (Pontbriand) Calawa.
Bob earned a Bachelors and Masters of Science degree in Physics from the University of New Hampshire and was employed as physicist at MIT Lincoln Laboratories until his retirement.
In addition to his wife Vicki, Bob is survived by his beloved children Stephen Calawa (wife Linda), Christopher Calawa (wife Christine), Catherine Astolfi (husband David), Donald Calawa (wife Donna), Daniel Calawa, Virginia Gutierrez (husband Guillermo), Martin Calawa (wife Mary), Nancy Polley (husband Brian), Richard Calawa (wife Kristine); beloved step-children, Paul Cunningham (wife Lisa), Joanne Crawford (husband, Barry), Karen Cunningham, Marie Cunningham and their families; 2 sisters, Rita Therrien, Germaine Calawa-Hill; 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was the former husband of the late Joan Calawa and he was the brother of the late Andy Calawa.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday May 10, 2017 from 4 until 8 PM in the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday morning at 10 AM in the Funeral Home. Interment will be held privately. Funeral Director Paul A.
