Obituary for Beverly Ann DeCoster (Wood)

Beverly Ann DeCoster, 82, formerly of Holliston, MA. died September 30, 2017 at her daughter’s home in Chelmsford, Massachusetts with her family and friends around her. Bev was born in Concord, MA on July 4, 1935 the daughter of the late Herbert Gifford Wood and Marion Vega (Friberg) Wood. Growing up in Waltham, Bev attended local schools and was a graduate of Waltham High School in the class of 1953.

After school Bev worked as a bookkeeper the following 4 years. She married the love of her life Wallace DeCoster in 1957 and the two would live in Holliston, MA for 39 years raising their family. She continued to work until 1960 and then she stopped work to raise their children and care for the family. She went back to work in 1969 as a school bus driver. She worked as a bus driver in Holliston for twenty-six years until she retired in 1996. She was well loved and admired by her family, friends and all of her students on the bus.

She enjoyed hours building her puzzles, watching Westerns like “The Virginian,’ and many Gene Autry and Roy Rogers movies. She also enjoyed reading Archie comics. She was a great cook and when ever anyone wanted something she made it.

Bev was described by her children as the best mom that anyone could ever have. She was a woman of great compassion. She was a person who would give her own shirt off her back to help anyone in need. She was the one in the family that held them together. Bev took care of everyone.

Bev is survived by her Son Billy DeCoster and his wife Denise of Madison, AL, daughter Robin Pancygrau and her late husband Steven of Chelmsford, MA, Grandchildren; Justin, Ryan, Samantha, Tyler, Jillian, and Henry
Brother Gordon Wood and his wife Louise of Providence, RI and her faithful four legged companion Zoey

A time of visitation and remembrance will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 4 to 7 in the evening at Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St. Chelmsford, Massachusetts and a Mass of thanksgiving and celebration will be held on Saturday October 7, 2017 at 10 o’clock St. Paul’s Chapel 1055 Dutch Neck Road, Waldoboro Maine, Interment will be held following the service at Dutch Neck Cemetery in Waldoboro.
