Anne Q. Panas Obituary (1931

Anne (Quinn) Panas, 93, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Leo Panas with whom she shared 66 years of marriage until his passing in January 2024. She was born in Lowell on January 30, 1931, and was the daughter of the late Henry and Rose (Quinn) Quinn. Anne attended the School of the Sacred Heart and Lowell High and was a graduate of Lowell State College (UMASS Lowell.) She initially became an elementary teacher with the Lowell School System where she met the love of her life Leo. She taught for many years until her family started to grow. Anne became quite proficient in flower gardening, designed beautiful gardens for all to enjoy and shared her knowledge of botany with curious minds. Anne was the Grand Dame of a proper tea party fitted with fine china and homemade delectables, and a fabulously talented chef and baker always serving a well-balanced healthy meal. An avid reader, family historian, master of the Sunday NY Times crossword puzzle, student of the Gaelic language and co-author with her husband Leo of The Irish Came to Lowell, she then learned computer skills in her seventies. Above all, she was a teacher of kindness and compassion and was devoted to all matters related to her family. Anne is fondly recognized by family and friends for her grace, poise, and dignity. The epitome of a fine woman, she was. The world will be a lesser place without her presence. The family also wishes to recognize and gratefully thank Annes home caregivers during her 9-year battle with dementia. There is no doubt Annes own kindness and patience was returned during her greatest time of need by Emily Pyatt and Teresia Muiruri, her daily care takers, and Nancy Brunelle, her hospice nurse for many years. Anne leaves her children, Vera Panas-Clauson of Chelmsford, Lee Panas of Chelmsford, and Deirdre Panas of Middletown, DE; three grandchildren, Andrew Clauson (Victoria) of Chelmsford, Charlotte Anne McLaughlin (Brendan) of Milford, NH, and Mathew Clauson of Chelmsford; and two great- grandchildren, Addison McLaughlin, and Tommy Clauson. Anne was predeceased by her brother Edward Quinn, and her son-in-law Jon Clauson. Annes memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM in the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell.
