Avgerini 'Effie' Lebaropoulos Obituary (1913 - 2013)

LOWELL Avgerini Effie (Papadopoulos) Lebaropoulos, a longtime resident of Lowell, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Northwood Rehabilitation Center at the age of 100. She was the wife of the late Xenophon J. Lebaropoulos who died in 2004. She was born in Greece on March 23, 1913 and was a daughter of the late George and Eleni Papadopoulos. Effie immigrated to the United States with her two children to join her husband. She was employed as a seamstress at Hathaway Shirt Company in Lowell for 20 years before retiring to help raise her six grandchildren. Effie was a member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church where she used her gift for cooking to help with many functions over the years. She was also a member of the Pan Messinian Society. She is survived by a daughter Cathy Chareas, daughter-in-law Cathy Lebaropoulos of Lowell, six grandchildren and their spouses; Effie and Bob Wyman, Nicholas and Kara Chareas, Stacy and Dimitrios Kolokathis, Zenny and Tracey Chareas, Steven and Kerry Chareas, Jennifer and Paul Hardy and; eleven great-grandchildren; and her son. She was the mother in law of the late Peter N. Chareas who passed away October 22, 2011. Visiting hours on Friday from 5 to 7 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. Funeral Service on Saturday morning at 9 oclock at the Holy Trinity Hellenic Orthodox Church, 62 Lewis St., Lowell. Interment in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell.
