Chelmsford, Massachusetts
Bruce Clifford Foucar, age 84, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Lowell on November 14, 1941, and was the son of the late Clifford and Dorothie (Welch) Foucar.
Dad was a lifelong Chelmsford, MA townie, a streak only briefly interrupted with a couple of years on Bourne St. in Lowell where he bought his first home. Following the death of his father Clifford Foucar, he moved back to Chelmsford to his Bentley Lane home. He lived there until the day he died. He loved Chelmsford. Dad attended CHS and graduated with the Class of 1961. From there he dabbled in the lawn mowing business and then decided to join the Marines Corps in 1964 followed by his service in the Marine Corps Reserves until 1970. Being a risk taker, Dad decided to become a colorblind Master Electrician, and was self-employed as B.C. Foucar Electric. In fact, the work phone line is still active today. He loved meeting new customers, seeing repeat customers and being challenged with new jobs. Dad’s interest involved many things from snowmobiling and camping in his younger days at Gunstock, NH, riding the Cog railway in NH, visiting the Wright Museum in Wolfeboro, NH, and making new friends at Bike Week in Laconia, NH back when it was fun (IYKYK).
He kept a seat warm at Skip’s restaurant for decades, typically for at least 2 meals a day, usually providing his unfiltered opinions on politics, sports, or Heaven forbid – changes in Chelmsford. He hung lights in the Center during Christmas and could be seen driving to anything interesting that he heard over his police scanner. His passion for Patriots football and the Red Sox was only out matched by his love of spoiling his cats: Cashmere, Sebastian, Cashmere and Cashmere. He never had a clue the name was spelled Kashmir after the Led Zeppelin song, not the material (though as far as pet names went, if it ain’t broke...). Over the years the one solid hobby and possibly his greatest love, was his mission to buy every dust magnet, knick knack, and shelf clutter he could get his hands on, and I mean that literally. Dad, you were a rare breed - and you are missed already.
He leaves behind his daughter Colleen Maher, her longtime boyfriend Steve Christopher, and his grandsons David, Michael and Daniel Maher; his other daughter Jennifer Traywick, her husband Keith Traywick, and his grandchildren Cole Traywick, Isabel Martel and Connor Martel; his decades long friendship till the end, Jack and Mary Donovan and Maryellen Donovan Sorenson, her husband Matt Sorenson, and all who provided great support, affection, and comfort in Dad’s hospice time.
Predeceased and welcoming him home are his grandmother Gertrude Foucar, his parents Clifford and Dorothie Foucar, his brother David Foucar, three Cashmeres, and a Sebastian.
In the spirit of Bruce, the family invites everyone to wear casual attire, sports apparel, or military affiliated uniforms.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 4pm to 7pm at the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD. His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 10am at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery, CHELMSFORD.
