Charles H. 'Uncle Pete' Delorey Obituary (2012)

Charles H. Uncle Pete Delorey, 89, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, and former longtime resident of Cambridge, died on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Westford House following a long illness. He was born in Cambridge, on February 12, 1923 and was a son of the late Hubert and Helen (Fougere) Delorey. Charles was raised and educated in Cambridge and was a graduate of Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Charles spent his entire career as a federal employee, beginning as a quality control manager at the Watertown Arsenal and later at various other government facilities. In his youth, Charles excelled in baseball and he remained an avid sports fan. Charles was a parishioner of St. Mary Parish in Chelmsford. He enjoyed building and flying radio controlled airplanes. Charles is survived by a niece Karen Pelrine and husband Douglas Pinney of Nantucket, nephews Donald Pelrine and wife Kendall of Nantucket, and John Pelrine and wife Marilyn of Arlington, 7 great-nieces and great-nephews, 1 great-great-niece and 1 great-great-nephew. He was predeceased by a brother Joseph Delorey and sister Mary Pelrine. Visiting hours Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 oclock at St. Mary Parish, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
