David E. Johnston M.D. Obituary (1953

David E. Johnston M.D., 55, of Westford and formerly of Washington state, died on Saturday, August 23, 2008 of Multiple System Atrophy. He was the beloved husband of Sandra Parkhurst Johnston, who survives him and resides in Westford. He was born on April 26, 1953 in Lancaster, PA a son of the late Eugene V. and Naomi (Bortner) Johnston. Dr. Johnston received his A.B. degree from Harvard University magna cum laude in biochemistry and his M.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine. He trained in internal Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital and in gastroenterology at Tufts N.E.M.C. Prior to his retirement he practiced gastroenterology and liver disease at the Everett Clinic in Everett, Washington. Dr. Johnston was a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. In addition to his wife he is survived by two loving children, Susan E. Johnston of Cambridge and Steven E. Johnston of Westford; a brother, Michael V. Johnston M.D. and his wife Sally of Baltimore, MD; a sister, Marcia V. Johnson of PA; and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford.
