Diana Chutchian Obituary (1932 - 2018) - North Chelmsford, Massachusetts

Diana (Nalbandian) Chutchian, 85, a longtime Chelmsford resident, passed away Friday, February 23, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late Zareh S. Chutchian, who passed away in 2010. Diana was born in Watertown on August 10,1932, a daughter of the late Martin and Sirvart Nalbandian. She was a 1950 graduate of Watertown High School. After high school she worked as a secretary and married Zareh Chutchian in 1953. They moved to Chelmsford in 1958, where they raised four children. In 1969 Diana decided to pursue a bachelors degree at Lowell State College. She was one of a few adult students enrolled in the colleges full-time education program. She graduated Cum Laude with a B.A. in History and Education in 1973. In the fall of 1973 she began teaching history at Billerica High School. She very much enjoyed teaching and was involved in various clubs and activities at the high school. She earned her Masters degree from the University of Lowell in 1993 and retired from teaching in 1996. Diana had a true passion for playing golf and was a longtime member of the Nashua Country Club, where she golfed daily during the summer and more often after retirement. She was also a member of the NCC womens curling team and active in organizing golf tournaments to benefit breast cancer research. When she wasnt golfing, Diana also enjoyed traveling, cooking, knitting, sewing, tennis, reading, skiing, crossword puzzles, history, politics, and spending time at the beach in Wellfleet, Mass. She was a truly, warm and compassionate person who loved being with people of all ages, especially her grandchildren, children and students. She greatly appreciated humor and loved to laugh with family and friends. Diana is survived by her children, Suzanne Chutchian, Kenneth Chutchian and his wife Carol Coultas, Donna Kavanagh and her husband Andrew Norander, and Joyce Chutchian-Ferranti and her husband David Ferranti; and seven grandchildren, Maria, Jack, Nuala, Eric, Rachel, Marcus, and Anthony. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, February 28,2018 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street., CHELMSFORD, MA 01824. Her funeral will take place on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Church, 180 Old Westford Rd., Chelmsford, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dianas name to Alzheimers Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452, or Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Church, or a charity of your choice.
