Chelmsford, Massachusetts
Donna M. (Watts) Nute, 80, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2026, following a courageous battle with breast cancer. Her beloved husband, David, was by her side. Donna and David shared more than 40 wonderful years together, including 22 years of marriage.
She was born in Boston on May 4, 1946, and was the daughter of the late George and Doris (Redding) Watts. Donna was raised in Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School. She spent the final 32 years of her career as a Contract Administrator at Assurance Technology Corporation, where she met her husband, David.
Donna loved to travel and enjoyed making special memories with her family. Some of her favorite destinations included Maui, Bermuda, Italy and Las Vegas and she will be fondly remembered for the many family vacations to Turks and Caicos. She also enjoyed reading and treating herself to a relaxing spa day. Donna always had her nails beautifully painted, often decorated to celebrate the latest holiday or season. She adored her beloved dog, Maverick, who was a constant source of companionship, comfort, and joy.
Donna’s family was the center of her world. She loved nothing more than spending time with her children and grandchildren, spoiling them whenever she had the chance, and watching her family grow. Becoming a great-grandmother to Kaden brought her a special kind of joy.
In addition to her loving husband, David, Donna is survived by her sister, Judith Miller, and her husband, Joseph, of Clearwater, FL; her children, Steven Vellucci and his wife, Tracy, of Tyngsboro, and Stacy Leverone and her husband, Brian, of Billerica; and her stepdaughter, Rebecca Davis and her husband, Matthew, of Salem, NH.
She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Kayla Florio and her husband, Zachary; Steven Vellucci; Marissa Burgoyne and her husband, Tyler; Kelsey Leverone; Katie Vellucci; Branden Davis; Anthony Davis; and Jonathan Davis; as well as her great-grandson, Kaden Florio.
Donna’s greatest joy was her family, and she leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories that will be carried on by those who loved her. From family vacations and celebrations to quiet moments together, she had a special way of making the people around her feel loved and cared for. Her laughter, smile, kindness, and unwavering love will remain in the hearts of her family and friends, and she will be deeply missed every day.
To honor her wishes, no public service will be held.
