Dorothy A. 'Dottie' Armstrong Obituary (1931 - 2013)

NORTH CHELMSFORD Dorothy A. Dottie (Jennings) Armstrong, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, died Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Willow Manor after a long battle with cancer. Born in Stoneham, she was the daughter of the late Elsa M. (Magnuson) Jennings and William T. Jennings. She spent her early years in West Medford, and graduated from Medford High School and Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston, after which she worked at Fidelity Investments in Boston for 10 years. For many years, she and her husband George were the owners of Powers Liquors in Lowell, where she worked as the bookkeeper. She is survived by her beloved husband George, and two daughters, Cheryl L. Armstrong of North Chelmsford and Cynthia L. Armstrong of Methuen. Dottie loved spending time with her family and friends and adored her Siamese cat Nako. She enjoyed reading, walking, taking cruises, and vacationing in Aruba. She is survived by many nieces and nephews in Virginia, Florida, and England. She was the sister of the late Eleanor J. Bradley of Haymarket, Virginia. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD, followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
