Dorothy E. Beard

–

Lowell, Massachusetts

Dorothy E. (Bayides) Beard of Lowell, and formerly of Brighton, Massachusetts, made her graceful exit to heaven on March 27, 2026, at the age of 95. She was the wife of the late Charles D. Beard, and the proud mother of four amazing children, Karen (Beard) Lovett, Donna (Beard) Noonan, Steven Beard (deceased), and Gloria Beard (deceased).

Dorothy spent most of her life living in Brighton, where she lived in the home she was literally born in, and later raised her own family. As a woman of strong faith, Dorothy was known for her kindness and generosity. She was a proud and active member of Tremont Temple Baptist Church in Boston, for most of her years, until moving to Lowell where she became a member of the Immanuel Church in Chelmsford. Being part of a church congregation was a huge part of who she was. She would volunteer in many capacities throughout her life, whether it be lending a hand at a soup kitchen, donating new bibles to the church, or knitting hats, mittens, and blankets for people in need. She would take every opportunity to witness to people and share her love of God.

An avid gardener, Dorothy had the greenest thumb and could grow just about anything. She spent a lot of time fussing over her garden, getting her flowers and color combinations just right. She loved being outdoors, and in particular loved taking trips to the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

Born September 6, 1930, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Efstatheos and Irene Bayides (Agabedis), and as the youngest child of the family, was doted on by her four brothers, George, John, James, and Charles, all deceased. She was raised with the importance of faith and family, emphasizing those traditions with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her daughters, Dorothy leaves behind a beautiful legacy to her four grandchildren, Jeffrey Noonan of Mansfield, Meredith (Lovett) Roman and her husband John Roman of Chelmsford, Christina (Noonan) Pickerelli and her husband Robert Pickerelli of North Attleboro, and Adam Beard of Lakeville. Dorothy was further blessed as Nana to her ten great-grandchildren, whom all had the privilege of being held, snuggled and sung to by her.

She will be deeply missed by not only her family and friends, but also to anyone who had the honor of meeting her. She had a kindness about her that was so sincere, and the magical gift of always making people feel special.
Per Dorothy’s wishes, funeral services will be private. Donations in her memory can be made to Disabled American Veterans. https://help.dav.org.
