Eileen Bentas

Eileen (Peyou) Bentas, age 100, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully at High Pointe House, Haverhill on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

She was born in Dover, NH on May 14, 1926, and was the daughter of the late George M. and Anne (Moley) Peyou.

Eileen enjoyed a long and satisfying career spanning 40 years as a nurse in the maternity ward of Lowell General Hospital. She successfully moved up through the ranks and retired from a director’s position. In her retirement she traveled to many different countries and in particular made 17 trips to Ireland to visit relatives. Later in her retirement she enjoyed gardening and reading and keeping up with current affairs.

Eileen is survived by her son Stephen and his life partner Joanne Grasso, who are both longtime residents of Chelmsford.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026 from 4pm to 7pm at the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD. Her Funeral Service and interment will be held privately.
