Elizabeth L. McMahon Obituary (1926 - 2014)

WESTFORD Elizabeth L. (Delaney) McMahon, 88, a longtime resident of Westford, died in the loving care of her family on June 15, 2014. Elizabeth graduated from St. Patricks High School in Lawrence, MA. She continued her education as a cadet for the US Army during World War II and graduated from St. Johns Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed by St. Johns as a maternity nurse for 20 years. On October 29th, 1950 she married Laurence F. McMahon whom she met at a college dance. Elizabeth was an active member of St. Catherine of Alexandria parish in Westford. Elizabeths many interests included sewing, baking, dancing, reading, and spending time with her loving family. Elizabeth was a dearly beloved wife for 63 years of Laurence F. McMahon who died on June 26, 2013. She was the devoted mother of Diane Brown and her husband William of Chelmsford, MA, Karen Durkin and her husband Michael of Nashua, NH, and Dr. Laurence F. McMahon, Jr. and his wife Jane of Ann Arbor, MI. She was also a devoted grandmother of William and Ryan Brown, Meghan Durkin and Laurence III, Patrick, and Colin McMahon. Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents Elizabeth and William Delaney, her brother John Delaney and sisters Mary McLay and Louise Higgins. Her brother William Delaney currently resides in Ohio. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 12 oclock at St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish, 107 North Main St., Westford, MA. Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford, MA.
