Evangeline 'Eve' N. Picard Obituary (1920 - 2015)

Evangeline N. "Eve" "Gekas" Picard of North Chelmsford North Chelmsford - Evangeline N. "Eve" (Gekas) Picard has slipped the bonds of this Earth on October 25, 2015 after a brief illness at Lowell General Hospital. Born in Lowell January 8, 1920, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Pauline (Spiromikalis) Gekas and the beloved wife of Eugene O. Picard Sr., who passed on April 24, 1998, and were married for 51 years. Eve grew up in the Acre when she was younger and attended the Lowell schools, graduate of the Bartlett School and graduate of Lowell High School class of 1939 Living on Worthen St. in Lowell right next to the Whistler House set her on the path of becoming an artist and teacher. She graduated with multiple college degrees with a constant love of learning including being one of the first Draftswomen from Lowell Technological College (UMass Lowell), a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, and Educational degree from Rivier College and multiple Associates degrees from Middlesex College. With her arty degree she became an art teacher in the Chelmsford School system, from K-12 in the 70's and 80's. She was also a volunteer at the Adams Library in Chelmsford. Later in life art continued to play a part of her life with the ownership of Ye Olde Towne Florist and then with other surrounding florists. Her love of painting, flowers and gardening was always present in her life. She was the founding member of the Chelmsford Art Society and the Lowell Camera club. Surviving her is her son Eugene O. Picard Jr. of Chelmsford, her three nieces, Patricia Thellen of Lowell, Pauline Finn of Oldsmar FL Joan Medernach and her husband William of Clearwater FL and many great and great-great nephews and nieces of Lowell, North Carolina and Florida. Eve was predeceased by her husband Eugene O. Picard, her sister Mary and brother-in-law John Lewis, her brother Charles and sister-in-law Nicki Gekas and Brother and sister-in-law John N and Gail Gekas. Visitation will be held at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD on Wednesday from 6 until 8 pm. Her Graveside Service will be held on Thursday at 12 Noon at Pine Ridge Cemetery, 130 Billerica Rd., Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Eves name to the charity of ones choice.
