Florence M. MacGilvray

Florence M. (Smith) MacGilvray, age 86, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, May 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. MacGilvray with whom she enjoyed 63 years of marriage until his passing in 2021.

She was born in Chelsea, MA on February 28, 1940. Florence was raised in Lexington. Florence loved music, entertaining, dancing, and cooking for friends and family. She welcomed all into her home. Most of all she loved her family especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Florence is survived by her daughter Theresa and her late husband O’Neil LeBlanc of Chelmsford, her grandson Kenneth and wife Nicole LeBlanc of Pepperell, her granddaughter Chantal and her husband Chris Rice of Connecticut, and her sister, Joann Staires of Maine.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Francis Smith, Alvin Smith, and Vincent Smith.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2026 from 1pm – 4pm at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 1, 2026 at 9am at St. Mary Parish, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford. KINDLY GATHER AT THE CHURCH.
