CHELMSFORD – Harleen D. (Nutter) Hennessey, 78, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, October 25, 2026. She was the beloved wife of Andrew “Dick” Hennessey, with whom she shared 59 wonderful years of marriage.
Harleen was born in Lowell on March 3, 1948, the daughter of the late Harley E. and Dorothea T. (Brown) Nutter. She graduated from Chelmsford High School in 1965.
Throughout her career, Harleen worked as an administrative assistant at the Lowell Courier-Citizen, followed by positions in the medical field. She worked as a medical receptionist in the emergency room at St. John’s Hospital and later for the Allergy and Asthma Specialist in Chelmsford.
Harleen enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, especially meeting friends for coffee at KJ’s Caffe, dining out with her husband, and spending time visiting with friends. She cherished the friendships she built over the years, and the many moments shared with those she loved.
In addition to her beloved husband, Dick, Harleen is survived by her children, Joyce Hennessey of Chelmsford and Richard Hennessey of Lowell. She is also survived by her siblings, Richard Nutter of Dedham, Garald Nutter of North Chelmsford, and Brenda Ross of New Hampshire; and her sister-in-law, Heidi Nutter of Newton, North Carolina. She will be fondly remembered by her extended family, relatives, and many dear friends.
Harleen was predeceased by her brother, Leonard Nutter, of Fort Myers, Florida.
