Harold Stephen Costa

Harold Stephen Costa, 82, a resident of Norwood, formerly a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Ellen (Nazzaro) Costa with whom he shared nearly 60 years of marriage.

He was born in Boston on November 21, 1943, and was the son of the late Harold and Norma (Pensa) Costa.

Harold grew up in Arlington, MA, and graduated from Arlington High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University and a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from Tufts University. Outside of work he spent summers vacationing on Martha’s Vineyard and Kennebunk and enjoyed fishing, golf, reading, skiing, tennis, and complex home improvement projects.

In addition to his loving wife, Harold leaves his son Jason Costa and wife Michaella of Cumberland, RI; his daughter Amy Costa and her husband Barry Hugo of Norwood, MA; his beloved grandchildren Nolan, Lindsey, and Tyler; his brothers Richard (Janice) and Stephen (Molly) Costa, and their families along with many other relatives and dear friends.

He is predeceased by his parents Harold and Norma Costa and his in-laws Vincent and Marie Nazzaro.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 4pm – 7pm at the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 11am at St. Mary Parish, 25 North Rd., CHELMSFORD. Kindly gather at the church. Interment to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, CHELMSFORD.
