Helen M Burns Obituary (1922 - 2013)

LOWELL Helen M. (Modeski) Burns, 90, a lifelong resident of Lowell, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward J. Burns who died in November 1972. She was born in Lowell on November 21, 1922 and was a daughter of the late Antonio and Annelia Modeski. Helen was raised in Lowell and was a 1942 graduate of Lowell High School. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Western Electric for over 30 years. Helen enjoyed crocheting and vacationing at Hampton Beach. She was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed watching the games with her family. What brought her the greatest joy was spending time with her loving children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Helen is survived by her son William Burns and his wife Maryalice of Merrimac, MA, and daughter Patricia Burns of Lowell and her longtime companion Walter Macomber of Chelmsford, two grandchildren Timothy E. Burns of Merrimac, MA and Kathleen E. Solomon and her husband Phillip of Lowell, two great grandchildren Luke William Solomon and Ava Claire Solomon of Lowell,. She also leaves her sister-in-law Mary E. Burns of Lowell. She was predeceased by her brothers Edmond Modeski and Francis J. Modeski and her sister Mildred Zendarski. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:30 am at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD followed by her Funeral Service at 11:30 at the funeral home. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, 1251 Gorham St., Lowell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, 360 North Ave. Haverhill, MA 01830.
