Helen Constance Coulouras Obituary (1934 - 2021) - North Chelmsford, Massachusetts

Presbytera Helen Constance (Triantafilou) Coulouras, a resident of North Chelmsford since 1962, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, June 21, 2021, in the company of her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Father Ernest (Anastasios) James Coulouras, retired priest from Laconia, New Hampshire and several other parishes including St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell. They would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on July 10th. She was born in Boston on February 21, 1934 and was a daughter of the late Charles N. and Edith M. (Carveth) Triantafilou. Helen grew up in Woburn and was a Sunday School teacher and Choir member at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Woburn. Later, she was a member of the Choir and Philoptochos Society at the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell and more recently she was the Choir Director, Philoptochos Secretary, and Sunday School teacher at St. George Greek Orthodox Church. She was employed for many years as an Executive Secretary at AVCO Corporation. Helen dedicated herself to helping young people. She served several years as the Secretary of the Boston District Greek Orthodox Youth of America (GOYA), was a Cub Scout Den mother, and spent many years involved in The Paul Center for Learning & Recreation in Chelmsford alongside her husband. Helen loved spending time at the beach, especially in York, Maine. She was a devoted wife and mother whose greatest achievement was raising their three sons, especially John, who has Down Syndrome. In addition to her husband, Helen is survived by her sons; James Ernest and his wife Ana (Knezevic) of Worcester and their daughters; Maya and Eleni, Charles Ernest and his wife, Christine (Pantazopoulos) of Longmeadow, and their children; Thomas, Anthony, Chrysanthe and Alexander, and John Chrysostom of Amesbury. She also leaves her brother; Father Nicholas C. Triantafilou and his wife, Presbytera Diane (Xenakis) of North Andover, a sister-in-law, Carleen Gavin of Westford, and many nieces and nephews. Helen was pre-deceased by her sisters and their husbands; Thespina and George Trearchis and Mary and John Barbas and her in-laws; James and Chrysotheme (Phillipopoulos) Coulouras, Charles Coulouras and his wife, Helen (Lazarus), Anthony Coulouras and his wife, Katherine (Paraskevopoulos), Vasiliki (Coulouras) Georgopoulos and her husband, Louis, Attorney Peter Coulouras and his wife, Elaine (Mitsou), and George Coulouras. Funeral services and interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 44 Princeton Blvd., Lowell, MA 01851.
